The Dittany herb was known in ancient Crete for as an aphrodisiac loose herbal tea and named Erodas by the locals, which means youthful love. The young men would climb on steep slopes to collect it for their beloved ones as an act of love.

Dittany (Origanum dictamnus) is the most famous Cretan endemic plants and the only plant which grows only in Crete. It grows on steep cliffs, so its collection is dangerous. Apart from excellent herbal tea, this organic herbal infusion was known in ancient times for its healing qualities. It was considered the most effective local remedy for almost everything (sore throat, cough, menstrual cramps, aching stomach, hypertensive, diuretic, helps at child birth, cures wounds, etc.).

Luisa or Lemon Verbena is a greek organic herbal tea with a very intense citrus smell, an extraordinary taste and remarkable effects.

Luisa was used in ancient times to ease stress problems, anxiety, insomnia and even nervousness states. It also has been shown to prevent muscle damage and boost the immune system. The infusion of this herbal tea in the water of the bath can have tranquilizing effects. It is also used in the kitchen to flavor many dishes like fish, chicken, salads and pastries. Lemon Verbana was often used by the Cretan women as a slimming aid, since it breaks down cellulite and regulates metabolism. Mountain tea Sideritis Syriaca or Malotira is a popular greek organic herbal tea that lies in the mountains of Crete. The one and only plant that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. In ancient times Sideritis was considered to be a secret to good health and a cure for almost anything.

Sideritis was used traditionally for promoting health and especially memory enhancement. The ancient Cretans drunk if because it was beneficial for the circulatory system and its strong anti-inflammatory effects help the soothing of colds/sore throat, fever, body ache and headache. It was also known as a detoxifier, anti-oxidant, disinfectant and diuretic.

The organic mountain tea from Crete can be used in anti-aging herbal creams and lotions, as well as in sun creams, as it is known that it can protect from sunburns and generally skin diseases caused by over-exposure to the daylight. It is an immune booster, and with its 99 vital ingredients this herb has been identified by recent studies that it might fight cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, enhance bone strength and delay osteoporosis.
